SCMGC Current Awareness: PubMed Searches

The potential SCMGC genes of interest are divided into two categories: priority genes and candidate genes. PubMed and GenBank searches have been set up for each gene set which can always be directly accessed by visiting the SCMGC PubCrawler service at http://www.gen.tcd.ie/pubcrawler/db/uwcmgc/. The results from the searches will be sent out every Friday to the members of the UW CMGC group through the listserv. PubCrawler keeps a record not only of the additional records that have come in over the last week, but also stores the hits obtained with the predefined searches for 100 days. More extensive information and links about the Priority and Candidate Genes can be found at http://mouse.bcc.washington.edu/uwcmgc/scmgc_genelist.html.

Priority Genes:

APEX: AP endonuclease, APEX nuclease (multifunctional DNA repair enzyme)
POLG: Pol Gamma, polymerase (DNA directed), gamma
XRCC1: X-ray repair complementing defective repair in Chinese hamster cells 1
ATM: ataxia telangiectasia mutated (includes complementation groups A, C and D)
WRN: WRN helicase, Werner syndrome; member of the RecQ family of DNA helicases; may catalyze DNA unwinding
MGMT: O-6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase NM_002412 NP_002403 MGMT

Candidate Genes:

OGG1: OGG1 8-oxoguanine DNA glycosylase
CDKN1B: p27 cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1B (p27, Kip1)
POLH: polymerase (DNA directed), eta
POLD1: Pol Delta1, polymerase (DNA directed), delta 1, catalytic subunit
POLD2: polymerase (DNA directed), delta 2, regulatory subunit (50kD)
ADPRT: PARP ADP-ribosyltransferase (NAD+; poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase)
CCNH: cyclin H
PRKR: (PKR) protein kinase, interferon-inducible double stranded RNA dependent
